At The Cowplain School, we are proud to offer a broad and exciting Enrichment Programme with a wide range of both academic and sporting activities to fully engage our students with the life of our school. We offer residential and non-residential trips and encourage our students to participate in regional and national competitions. In the Lego League Regional Championship we were recently awarded the Judges’ Award and several our students scored in the top 10% nationally in the Bebras Computational Thinking competition organised by the University of Oxford. Our school band, Jukebox, regularly performs in the area including at the Victorious music festival in Southsea.
The Enrichment Programme is updated regularly and advertised to our students through their teachers and tutors.
We are committed to providing music lessons for any student who wishes to learn or develop their skills. Mrs Dobbyn, our Head of Music, arranges for specialist music teachers to visit the school and has a comprehensive list of the lessons available.
Students studying GCSE music receive specialist tuition for singing lessons or one instrument at no cost as we consider this an important part of the GCSE course.
GCSE Music students wishing to study an additional instrument, or students not taking GCSE Music, will be required to pay 100% of the cost.
We believe this provides an appropriate balance between parents supporting their child's talents and the school supporting GCSE Music students.
