Pastoral structure

We understand that your child’s wellbeing is extremely important to you, and it is a priority for us. Here, at The Cowplain School, we have an excellent Pastoral Team which will look after your child’s wellbeing for the duration of their time at the school.

We have a unique set up whereby our five Heads of Year do not teach, and are therefore on hand all day, every day, to work with their specific year group. We also have five Assistant Heads of Year who works alongside the Heads of Year.

In addition to this, we also have outstanding care with regards to your child’s mental health. Miss Graham is our onsite School Psychologist/Mental Health Lead, who works with our students who need additional support.

Resilience Centre

For those students who are not educated in the main school for all their lessons, we have our Resilience Centre. Students accessing their education here benefit from high adult to student ratios and bespoke individualised timetables. These students receive a broad and balanced curriculum offer. Pastoral and welfare care for these students is provided by Ms L Alden (RC Leader), Mrs P Stainsby (HLTA), Mrs P MacCallum (HLTA), Ms J Rankin (Behaviour Intervention Worker) and Mrs D Creighton (Behaviour Support Assistant). The Resilience Centre is line managed by Mr J Peters (Assistant Headteacher).
