As Headteacher of Cowplain Community School from 1st May 2013, I would like to introduce myself to all parents and students and felt some background about myself would be a good start. I began teaching 18 years ago, with my first job teaching English in Chichester. I then led my own very successful English Department before joining senior leadership as an Assistant Headteacher. From there I moved to the position of Deputy Headteacher at a very large school, a post I held for over 5 years, before securing the position of Headteacher of Cowplain Community School. Throughout my career I have always been conscious of the need to secure the best possible outcomes for every student whilst ensuring that those I taught received the best pastoral care that myself or my school could provide. I want students to leave Cowplain Community School not only with a great memory of their 5 years, but also with a set of qualifications that prepares them for their future. I am a strong believer in the need to secure strong skills of literacy and numeracy but also to develop skills of leadership, creativity, resilience that are vital to secure success. As a parent of 2 children myself I am passionate about ensuring the best possible provision for our young people and am committed to ensuring this is the case for our students and their families.
