Dream. Believe. Achieve.
Welcome to the summer term and, for me, the start of my second month as Headteacher of Cowplain Community School. As I write this, our Year 11 students are moving towards the last couple of weeks of GCSE examinations before they embark on the next stage of their lives. It’s no exaggeration to say that the results of those exams will shape their dreams and aspirations for the future and set them up for rewarding and successful lives. I became a teacher and, 18 years later, a Headteacher to play a part in helping young people to realise those dreams and I get a great deal of satisfaction when bumping into ex-students, or hearing about their achievements, knowing that school played a significant part in their success. It’s why I always ask young people what they dream of doing with their lives and how they can achieve those dreams. It’s also my job to give young people the belief that, with hard work, those dreams are obtainable. These thoughts have shaped the creation of our new school strapline: Dream. Believe. Achieve.
Our strapline summarises our work at Cowplain: the commitment to enabling young people to shape their dreams and the instilling of the belief that they can be achieved.
