At The Cowplain School, we are proud to offer a broad and exciting Enrichment Programme to fully engage our students within the life of our school. For example, we offer a wide range of both residential and non-residential trips. In 2022/23, we offered over 100 trips ranging from visits to Paris, Seville, and Tenerife as well as trips to museums, universities, Winchester College, West End theatres, etc.
We also host a variety of well-attended extra-curricular activities, both sporting and academic. Last year well over 20% of our students regularly took part in after-school clubs with a lot more sampling different sessions. As a school, we take part in yearly competitions, such as Dance Live!, and our school band, Jukebox, regularly performs in the area including at the Victorious music festival in Southsea.
The Enrichment Programme is updated regularly and advertised to our students through their teachers and tutors. Click here for the current version of the Enrichment Programme.
We are committed to providing music lessons for any student who wishes to learn or develop their skills. Mrs Dobbyn, our Head of Music, arranges for specialist music teachers to visit the school and has a comprehensive list of the lessons available.
All lessons are taught individually or in small groups and take place after school so that students do not have to miss any curriculum lessons during the day. For current prices please contact Mrs Dobbyn.
Students studying GCSE music are advised to receive specialist tuition for singing lessons or their main instrument as this is an important element of the course.
We also offer a variety of school trips to support our curriculum and enhance the learning experience for all students. All trips will run if the uptake from students is high enough and all students are encouraged to take part. There are trips for all year groups and the list of proposed trips throughout the year can be found here. The Cowplain School Trips and Visits Terms and Conditions can be found here.
In addition we have also designed The Cowplain School curriculum calendar. This calendar allows us to celebrate specific days throughout the year. The planned activities are delivered by teachers either during lesson or Reflection Time and are organised by a variety of staff. These curriculum events range from increasing our students' awareness of neurodiversity, to mental health or music. Please click here to see the curriculum calendar for this academic year.
