We would like to congratulate our 2025 GCSE students on achieving record results for The Cowplain School.
Maths and English GCSE results rose, so over 70% of students achieved a Grade 4 in Maths, with 68% achieving the same in English and/or English Literature. The percentage of those achieving both English and Maths at Grade 4 was the highest ever achieved at the school. Those achieving Grade 5 in both subjects also rose 4%, to 38%, with similar results at Grade 5 achieved by both boys and girls.
We also saw a high number of grades 7-9, with 27 x Grade 9s, 57 x Grade 8s and 89 x Grade 7s achieved by our students across their subjects!
As well as the excellent results achieved in Maths and English, we saw great achievement in many other subjects; for example, a number of the ‘EBACC’ subjects performed exceptionally well, with 100% of Biology students achieving a Grade 4, 95% in Chemistry, with 90% in Physics. 78% of students achieved that benchmark in French, with Geography at 65% and History at 60%, with nearly all our students sitting one of those humanities subjects. Music saw 92% of students achieving a Grade 4, with our vocational subjects also performing well; 100% of Hair and Beauty students achieved a Grade 4, 67% in Food and 61% in Engineering.
A number of individual students achieved exceptional GCSE results; for example, JW achieved an unbelievable 10 x Grade 9s and a Grade 7 in Further Maths; JB, 3 x Grade 9s, 3 x Grade 8s, 2 x Grade 7s and 1 x Grade 6; AD, 2 x Grade 9s, 5 x Grade 8s, 2 x Grade 7s; NB, 3 x Grade 9s, 4 x Grade 7s, 3 x Grade 6s; EH 1 x Grade 9, 3 x Grade 8s, 5 x Grade 7s and 1 x Grade 6.
There were many more students who achieved outstanding GCSE results, so huge congratulations to the class of 2025 on their success in achieving those exceptional results.
